Writer’s mental block

Tag:, , ,

This is the most dreaded disease faced by most bloggers especially the newbies. There are times when we just seem to have

nothing to write about. Our mind are just blank. We struggle but nothing comes to mind. A lot of people give up blogging because of this and find that writing is just not their cup of tea. Some resorted to use copyright free articles for their blogs or use content generator software. But having these duplicate or automated contents may not do good to your blog in terms of page ranking among search engines. Search engines prefer original contents with regular updates.

There are a few things that you can do to avoid writer’s mental block.

1. Always have a pen and paper within reach. Whenever an idea strikes, jot it down on the paper in notes form. This can be a starting point of an article for you to write about later. If you don’t jot it down, it may slip your mind and you may not be able to recall the idea later on.

2. Visit other peoples blogs and see what they write about. You may be able to get some ideas of what to write.

3. Blog about something you are passionate about. If your favourite pass time is fishing, you can blog about anything that is related to fishing. You will definitely have a lot of ideas because writing about something you like comes very naturally.

4. Read books regarding a topic that you are currently doing research on and write about it.

5. When you have a mental block, just write the first sentence that comes to your mind. You will find that your mind will open up and words will flow more easily and build up the sentence that you have written. An article is built one sentence at a time.

6. Listen to some soft music to relax. A relax mind tends to be more creative.

7. Use simple language. Trying to figure out what fantastic words to use may just prevent your thought flow and you may get distracted trying to think of the word to use.

These are just some tips that works for me. You may want to try them out or you may have your own ways. Whichever ways, do continue to write and it will get easier as you go.
