Wordpress is free for everyone to use and it can be hosted for free or self-hosted. Free hosting can be obtained from www.wordpress.com. All you need to do is to open an account with them and start our own blog for free. If you want more flexibility to work around your blog and turn your blog into a money making machine, you can opt for self-hosted Wordpress blog. For self-hosting, you must get a hosting company to host your blog. I strongly recommend Hostgator as they have c-panel which makes things very easy to use. You can download your Wordpress from www.wordpress.org for free and get it hosted at Hostgator.
Wordpress is open-source and it is free and it is constantly being developed and improved by hundreds of programmers around the world. It is easy to use and can be easily enhanced with add-ons which are called plugins. All these plugins are available for free too.
If you need help, there is this video presentations called Wordpress Videos which will take you by the hand and guide you through step by step from how to register for a domain name , how to get your blog hosted at Hostgator, to posting your first blog post and many more topics. Every beginner will benefit from this guide and soon you will be a pro.
